 Sean Murphy latest injury update
Kim Klement Neitzel-USA TODAY Sports

The Braves have been without their All-Star catcher Sean Murphy since Opening Day after he suffered an oblique injury. Obliques are typically tricky and can take months to heal from, even minor ones. It’s been a long road back for Murphy, but he took a massive step in the right direction this week.

Per Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal Constitution, Murphy has progressed to swinging off a tee and is expected to continue to ramp up offensive activities.

Up until this point, Murphy had not swung a bat, which is the last stage in his recovery. Hopefully, there are no setbacks, and he’ll soon progress to batting practice. From there, a rehab assignment is likely in his future, given he hasn’t played a game in well over a month.

It still may be a few weeks away, but Sean Murphy is progressing in the right direction and should be back with the team by the end of the month, providing there are no setbacks.
